Reseller's Fault?

Reseller’s Fault?

It has been asked and suggested that I hold the Reseller at fault for giving the Go Daddy Group the opportunity to get the domains in the deceitful way that they did.

No, now that I understand how the process works world wide I do not hold the Reseller at fault.

The system in its present format allows many thousands of people who have no business experience or insurance bond in place to commence business as a Reseller with no system in place to protect the Registrant (domain owner) should the individual Reseller fall into bad health or die.

I understand there are Resellers who run very professional businesses with very good after sales support some have thousands of domain names in their care and may aspire to becoming Accredited Registrars while other companies offer domain registration as an “add on” service to hosting and web design.

The vast majority of the individuals and larger Resellers enter into and continue to trade with the intention of providing a quality service to the Registrants, in all of the searches I have carried out I have not seen any reports where a Reseller steals the Registrants domains.

Unlike the Go Daddy Group my Reseller did not set out to profit from the sale of my domain names ecosolarheating.com and ecosolarheat.com, in fact I understand he was very distraught at the loss.

ICANN are fully aware of the Accredited Registrars who assist Resellers to set up in business as their agents / sub offices without any form protection for the Registrant or the domains the Resellers are entrusted with.

I suggest everyone should research their Registrar, try to find a company who is big enough to remain in business but small enough to truly value your business.
